CHACHIMBIRO HOT SPRINGS – SUGAR CANE – SALINAS SALT MUSEUM
Chachimbiro hot springs
After a delicious breakfast, we travel by public transport to the Chachimbiro hot springs, located in the Urcuqui Canton, approximately one hour and a half from Guallupe. There, we visit a spa containing various different relaxing baths. The hot springs found at the spa originate from the Chachimbiro volcano. After dining on a delightful traditional lunch of chicken soup or trout, we enjoy a small demonstration of the sugar cane sugar mills (dependent on the season). On our return, we stop in Salinas, which is a bustling town that serves as a point of arrival of the Liberty Train traveling from Ibarra. There, we can visit a local salt museum that tells the story of how salt had been extracted in this location years ago. After, we return to Guallupe for a charming dinner and lodging at the Casa de Eliza.
